A Little Crochet



Hello, dear ones!

 You may remember this snap when I was showing off my new olden scale.
There was a reason I placed crocheted granny squares on it.

 
 Ta Dah!!
I was making the squares for an afghan.
Just simple little ole granny squares without much color.

I wanted to make a simple afghan with a simple color scheme to keep my tootsies warm during the winter months. 
Just crocheted the start of the granny with a little green yarn and finished with creamy yarn.
Tuned out just like I wanted it to.

  3. Simple, yet so very sweet! I love to crochet and I thought for a while it was a lost art. But I've seen a lot of crochet projects on various blogs lately so hopefully it's making a comeback. Have a great week!

  19. SO pretty...the little touches of olive really bring out the antique white! What talent! I WISH I could knit and crochet! I should have let my mom teach me long ago when she wanted too....it's such a divine old skill, right up there with making soap and such. Happy February!

  24. It is beautiful! How did you join the squares? It looks like they are stitched, not crocheted together. I have some old squares that were given to me, but I don't really crochet.....

    You are so talented! I used to knit a little--I made slippers, but I no longer even try that. I never could crochet. My mama tried to teach me, but she was a leftie, and I'm right handed. Ah well . . .
    Lucky for me, my daughter-in-law crochets, and she's made me an afghan.

    I really like your color combination. I've always prefer understated.

Did it take you a while to make? Only wondering because it looks like a lot of work. The colours go so nicely with your place too...and finally you can take them off the scale..*s*.

  40. I love your granny square afghan, Shelia. I've only done a couple of those. I usually made ripple afghans. I don't think I had the patience it takes to make all those squares and then put them together.:-)

  46. Shelia that is just gorgeous, it looks so soft and pretty! My mom loved to crochet, I never learned I was to busy being a teenager and then a young mom. So regret it now! My mom would have loved to have seen yours:)

  47. How beautiful it is! It reminds me of the aphgans my husband's grandmother used to make when she was alive. She loved to crochet! She was able to do it for a very long time until it got to difficult for her to see. She lived to be 102! I know that aphgan will get lots of use and stay in the family through the years.

Do you crochet your squares together or whip stitch them? I'd like to try crocheting them. I love how you placed them on your scale. I need (ok, want) a scale!! xo

  57. What a pretty afghan Shelia! Such pretty soft colors- we got some snow today and that looks so comfy for a snowy day! I was hoping to get a bit of crocheting done this winter but didn't end up picking the hook up 1 time this year! Got a Silhouette machine and what little time I have I've been trying to figure that thing out!! Gosh it is much more complicated then I had imagined!
