Hello, dear ones!
You may remember this snap when I was showing off my new olden scale.
There was a reason I placed crocheted granny squares on it.
Ta Dah!!
I was making the squares for an afghan.
Just simple little ole granny squares without much color.
I wanted to make a simple afghan with a simple color scheme to keep my tootsies warm during the winter months.
Just crocheted the start of the granny with a little green yarn and finished with creamy yarn.
Tuned out just like I wanted it to.
Don't you love it when that happens? :)

I'll leave you with a little Note Song ~
Celebrate Me Home
Home for the holidays,
I believe I've missed each and every face,
Come on and play my music,
Let's turn on the love light in the place
It's time I found myself,
Totally surrounded in your circles
Whoa, my friends
Please, celebrate me home,
Give me a number,
Please, celebrate me home
Play me one more song,
That I'll always remember,
And I can recall,
Whenever I find myself too all alone,
I can sing me home.
Uneasy highway,
Traveling where the Westerly winds can fly,
Somebody tried to tell me,
But the men forgot to tell me why,
I gotta count on being gone,
Come on woman, come on daddy,
Be what you want from me,
I'm this strong, I'll be weak
Please, celebrate me home,
Give me a number,
Please, celebrate me home
Play me one more song,
That I'll always remember,
I can recall,
Whenever I find myself too all alone,
I can make believe I've never gone,
I never know where I belong,
Sing me home.
Please, celebrate me home,
Give me a number,
Please, celebrate me home
Play me one more song,
Celebrate, celebrate
Celebrate, celebrate
Celebrate, celebrate
Celebrate me home
Please, celebrate me home,
Please, celebrate me home,
Well I'm finally here,
But I'm bound to roam,
Come on celebrate me home
Well I'm finally here,
But I'm bound to roam,
Come on celebrate me home
Well I'm finally here,
But I'm bound to roam,
Come on celebrate me home
Please, celebrate me home,
Please, celebrate me home,
Please, celebrate me home,
Please, celebrate me home,
Please, celebrate me home,
Please, celebrate me home.

Your afgan is sooo sweet, love the color and I bet it will keep your tootsies warm...the design is simple and will go with anything...
ReplyDeleteI love the soft colors of this afghan. It's cold so I've got a nice lap quilt over my legs! I'm watching Jennifer Hudson sing at the Super Bowl pregame show.
ReplyDeletehugs,
Linda
Simple, yet so very sweet! I love to crochet and I thought for a while it was a lost art. But I've seen a lot of crochet projects on various blogs lately so hopefully it's making a comeback. Have a great week!
ReplyDeleteShelia,
ReplyDeletePerfect!!!
Love the crocheted lace edging, too!!!
You are such a creative and talented lady, dear friend!!!
Fondly,
Pat
I do not think of this beautiful afghan as simple . . . more like lovely, charming and gorgeous!!!
ReplyDeleteYour blogging sister, Connie :)
Hi Shelia! I love this afgan! I would love to learn to do this! Maybe someday...
ReplyDeleteSuch a lovely color combo! You are one talented lady...with very lucky toes!lol. Jane
ReplyDeleteI just love home-made, cozy things and this is adorable.
ReplyDeleteThat is one of my favorite color combinations. Love it!
ReplyDeleteLove granny squares and yours turned out perfect. How did you join them together, yous looks nice and tight, I have never found a stitch that looks like that.
ReplyDeleteDearest Shelia, Your blanket is so pretty. Love the colors!
ReplyDeleteYou should be very proud of this beauty.
God bless and thank you for the prayers,
d
Been awhile since I've been by ... but I love the afghan ... Everything looks beautiful as always!
ReplyDeleteDebbie I clicked on your name and it took me to Google Reader and I couldn't get to your blog. So...thank you os much for popping in to see me and I'm thrilled you liked my afghan.

ReplyDeleteOh, this is so pretty, Shelia! And it does look warm. So wish I could crochet. I guess I am a little too lazy to learn! ;-D

Jane
So pretty Sheila!! Have a lovely week!! xo Heather
ReplyDeleteOh - your afghan is really, really pretty. I can imagine this in my cozy living room. Thank you for the inspiration.
ReplyDeleteVery pretty, homey and cozy too!!! Love the scalloped edge, perfect finishing touch!!! Hugs....cleo
ReplyDeleteIt looks great Sheila, love the scalloped edge:@)
ReplyDeleteSO pretty...the little touches of olive really bring out the antique white! What talent! I WISH I could knit and crochet! I should have let my mom teach me long ago when she wanted too....it's such a divine old skill, right up there with making soap and such. Happy February!
ReplyDeleteI love it! Very cozy looking!
ReplyDeleteOoh, nice job! Great colors too!
ReplyDeleteThat kind of project is very impressive to me. It takes lots of time and patience and skill!! Turned out perfectly. :)
ReplyDeleteThere's so much beauty in the simplicity of the granny crochet you've just made Shelia:) I love it!
ReplyDeleteIt is beautiful! How did you join the squares? It looks like they are stitched, not crocheted together. I have some old squares that were given to me, but I don't really crochet.....

The simplest of designs in making anything out of crochet, looks the prettiest to me! I love it! and love the fact, you made it!
ReplyDeleteHappy Monday!
Hugs, Shari ")
It's gorgeous and I'm always so proud of you when you make things like this. I honestly have the crochet "itch" (you keep feeding it!), I am just going to go get a book and learn. It is time.
ReplyDeleteHugs ~ Mary
Very pretty. I wish I could get to doing something like that! I do love the natural color!
ReplyDeleteGod love your busy little hands. Richard from My Old Historic House.
ReplyDeleteIt's beautiful and keeps you warm WHILE you are making it, too! Sweet hugs!
ReplyDeleteShelia,
ReplyDeleteYou are so talented! I used to knit a little--I made slippers, but I no longer even try that. I never could crochet. My mama tried to teach me, but she was a leftie, and I'm right handed. Ah well . . .
Lucky for me, my daughter-in-law crochets, and she's made me an afghan.
I really like your color combination. I've always prefer understated.
I love your granny square afghan - it has such elegance! The soft colors and simplicity makes a wonderful statement. And I bet it's warm, too!
ReplyDelete~Adrienne~
Shelia, it's beautiful! I love the colors you chose. They are so pretty...just the colors this girl loves. This makes me want to start crocheting again. :)
ReplyDeleteLooks pretty dang comfy to me!!
ReplyDeleteHi Shelia *hugs
ReplyDeleteHow beautiful it is...you did a wonderful job choosing the colours. They are so soft and warm looking. Your wee little tootsy ones are going to be so very toasty aren't they. Love it. Did it take you a while to make? Only wondering because it looks like a lot of work. The colours go so nicely with your place too...and finally you can take them off the scale..*s*.
have a great evening
Judi
I love it. Love the colors.
ReplyDeleteWinter must be crochet season, because that's exactly what I've been doing. It's my first crochet project ever! I posted about it today.
ReplyDeleteHugs, Cindy
I meant to say, that I love your pretty afghan, it turned out just beautifully!! I love the soft colours, too. You have such talented little fingers! :)
ReplyDeleteOH Sheila,
ReplyDeleteYou talented gal you! I can sew a bit, but I so wish I could crochet or knit.
It's so lovely, and perfectly done!
Hugs friend,
Cindy
It looks great. I am starting small with wash clothes. I just finish one and starting another one. I have a friend who is going to teach me to read patterns. I can't wait to make a big project.
ReplyDeleteI love your granny square afghan, Shelia. I've only done a couple of those. I usually made ripple afghans. I don't think I had the patience it takes to make all those squares and then put them together.:-)
ReplyDeleteSheila, how I love granny square afghans! And I love how you displayed the squares on your darling scale while they were waiting to be joined as one ;o)
ReplyDeleteLove the way your afghan turned out!! You do lovely work! It is gratifying when a project turns out better than you had imagined!
ReplyDeleteWonderful! I love the colors, so soft and really elegant. I have made many afaghans but I have never made one with sqares ~ you have inspired me to do so.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful Sheila ! Looks like it will keep you toasty warm :)
ReplyDeleteShelia, it's beautiful! You are a woman of many talents. I'd almost hate to use it after putting all of that work into it. laurie
ReplyDeleteShelia that is just gorgeous, it looks so soft and pretty! My mom loved to crochet, I never learned I was to busy being a teenager and then a young mom. So regret it now! My mom would have loved to have seen yours:)
ReplyDeleteHow beautiful it is! It reminds me of the aphgans my husband's grandmother used to make when she was alive. She loved to crochet! She was able to do it for a very long time until it got to difficult for her to see. She lived to be 102! I know that aphgan will get lots of use and stay in the family through the years.
ReplyDeleteSheila~ How delightful! So lucky to have this skill- one you can share with others or treat yourself. Love the old scale too. I have a black one quite similiar :)
ReplyDeleteHappy Valentine's Day~
Shawn

I LOVE your pretty tootsie warmer....pretty as can be.
ReplyDeleteNow, when I get all settled again (if EVER), I want to make one. I've forgotten how to do granny squares but bet I can google instructions. I love the colors of yours.
Oh how Pretty Sheila. I love your afghan. I have not seen a home made one in many years. I have my Grandmothers which is pink and grey. Loved it!
ReplyDeleteYou are one talented lady! Love the colors of your pretty blanket! :)
ReplyDeleteI love your granny square afghan, Shelia. It looks so pretty with just the touch of color. I'm making one, too, right now, but with leftover yarns. Do you crochet your squares together or whip stitch them? I'd like to try crocheting them. I love how you placed them on your scale. I need (ok, want) a scale!! xo
ReplyDeleteWhat a pretty afghan Shelia! Such pretty soft colors- we got some snow today and that looks so comfy for a snowy day! I was hoping to get a bit of crocheting done this winter but didn't end up picking the hook up 1 time this year! Got a Silhouette machine and what little time I have I've been trying to figure that thing out!! Gosh it is much more complicated then I had imagined!

ReplyDeleteThe little coaster squares look so cute there on the scale.
Hugs,
Patti
Oh this turned out so nicely. I have a similar one that my grandma made but mine is all ivory. The accents of green are so pretty in yours. Thanks for sharing.
