Dear Ones, I've decided to share with you how you can back up your blog, just in case Blogger should decide to delete it!
After you're signed in to your blog, go to where you make your new posts and you'll see all of the tabs at the top. Click on "Settings". You'll be directed to another page and on the left it says "Blog Tools". To the right of these words are these three options:
Import Blog Export Blog Delete Blog
Now you just need to click on "Export Blog" to back up your blog posts. You may be asked where you want to save it, like My Documents or Desktop. Click 'save'. Make sure you choose
Export Blog and not Delete Blog or it's all over but the shouting!
This is really very simple and I don't know how to use this if Blogger should delete my blog but I'm sure someone knows how to do it. But I've got my blog saved to my hard drive and I'm armed! I do this every couple of weeks or so. Hope this will help someone.
Oh, Dear Ones! I'm so distressed this morning! I've had a few emails from some of you saying you can't comment on my blog! I've lost all of my followers! I've been using Google Chrome and when I log on to my blog there's a funny heading with the sign in and when I type in my password - it doesn't take it. Also when I click on one of you who've commented to me it takes me right back to the sign in place and won't except my password! UGH!! When I go back to Firefox I can get into my blog but there are still no followers. I had changed to Google Chrome for a while because Firefox was acting up with me.
Is anyone else having problems? I have learned how to back up my blog and did that last night just in case Blogger decided to eat all of it. I wish they would get things straight! Should I change to Type Pad?
Help me!! Help me!! Blogging is so important to me and I just don't like these mess ups!!
Be a bunch of sweeties,
Shelia :(

Try a couple of things to leave comments: in select profile if you have the option to choose your name/URL .. do it.
ReplyDeleteSomeone also suggested signing out, signing back in and 'unticking' the keep me signed in feature .. it worked for her.
I have had some luck selecting my name/URL under select profile.
We'll see if that works for you now .. I use Internet Explorer right now .. though I do switch back and forth between that and Chrome just for blogging from time to time.
OK, so I tried everything ... when I unticked
ReplyDelete'keep me signed in' I was able to leave this comment! Go figure?
I had exactly the same problem last week. Go to your internet options, and delete your cookies and temporary internet files. It should bring it back up. Mine cleared up immediately, let me know if this helps. P.S. Be sure to know what all your user names and passwords are for your accounts (bank, credit cards, etc) before doing this because they will no longer be saved on those pages. Good luck honey!
ReplyDeleteI have found if I completely shut down my computer and after a few minutes turn it on again.
ReplyDeleteThen type in my blog name in the search engine and when it comes up I click to sign in.
Then don't let the "auto log in" do it's thing but instead I manually type in my user name & password = no more problems...
Hope it helps :)
A lot of us are having problems. I have lost the followers and I can't comment on some blogs. Firefox is working better than Internet Explorer. That is about all I know....Ugh
ReplyDeleteSame here Shelia!!! But I did get to leave you a comment!!!
ReplyDeleteI am on WP mainly and using IE. We've had some sporatic problems, not the massive outtage Blogger and Google seem to be experiencing. I have no techie tips to share. Hang in there and when it sorts itself out, know that we will be here waiting to comment.
ReplyDeleteSheila, there are many blogs that the whole follower section has disappeared. It is just crazy. We had just switched to google chrome as we had problems with our other browser. Not sure that is the problem or what.
ReplyDeleteI haven't had any trouble leaving comments but my followers are missing, too. Hopefully they get it straightened out soon!
Thankfully, I haven't had any of the recent problems with "blogspot" but don't know why. You'll find your "friends" because we are still here.
ReplyDeleteBest,
Bonnie
Shelia, it's been a nightmare for me for 3 days now. I've tried forever just to post something on here... how did you back your blog up? I've cleared everything out, restarted computer etc, and still can't get anywhere, I sure hope they get it fixed or some one has an answer for us.
ReplyDeleteShelia, thanks darling, I've backed it up on laptop, have external back up on desktop, The followers are still gone, boo-hoo.... Hope you're having a terrific w/k. hugs ~lynne~
ReplyDeleteOh my.....this trouble with Blogger is getting crazier and crazier. Since I follow you, your newest post showed up in my Dashboard. I'm going to try to add myself as a follower again. Have a great weekend!
ReplyDeleteUgh! I hate on-line and computer issues. I have always used TypePad (five years now), and I love it.
ReplyDeleteMy Google Friends widget is missing, too. Are we going to get them back when it is fixed? Inquiring minds need to know.
After reading your post, which actually came up on my dashboard, I checked for my followers and they are gone, too. I had this problem on my jewelry blog and I have never retrieved the followers widget, but I still had the 'followers' button to click on at the top of my blog. It worked. On this blog and when I look at yours, that same 'followers' button is not there. I am definitely not a computer wizard, so I hope Blogger gets this fixed. Also when I'm on your page in the bottom left where is usually says 'done', it is showing '!Error on page'. Please, if you get answers, post them. Thanks!
ReplyDeleteYES, YES, and YES...have been having that difficulty for a couple of weeks now; it seems since Blogger went down. Today seems to be a good day so before I jinx it I will leave a comment and thank you for posting how to back up my blog. I thought a couple days back how devastated I would be if I lost it all; UGH!
ReplyDeletehugs to you and take care...
Oh I am having some of the same problems. Followers all disappeared and I have had no comments all day so I don't know if people are not able to comment or my posts are just that bad.
ReplyDeleteI have had a few weird problems these past few weeks. Blogger is probably so overloaded with blogs these days! Have a great weekend!
ReplyDeleteHi Shelia, I've had blogger problems all week. I have been successful in using some of the tips mentioned here above. Thank you for the tips on how to save our blogs.
ReplyDeleteI wish you a very safe and happy weekend.

Thank you, Sheila. I'll try your suggestions when I return to my home computer. I've been having problems for at least 4 days. I'm unable to leave comments wiyhout manually typing in my URL and the "Follow" tab is not on anyone's page because I keep getting logged out by blogger. I'm so frustrated!
ReplyDeleteSusan
thanks for sharing, I've have always kinda been scared to clicked those words not knowing what'd it'd do lol , do you have to do it for every post?
ReplyDeleteI've been able to leave comments but lost all my followers in the application. I'm backing up my blog right now. Not sure what is going on but I'm sure Blogger is working on it.
ReplyDeleteI have been still having some problems too, so I just backed up my blog...I would be so sad if I lost it! I will try the things mentioned above and see if this takes! I have had numerous comments on different blogs that I can't seem to get to work work...:) Sandy
ReplyDeleteHi, I found your blog when I googled 'eblogger problems with followers' and while I have not had any problems posting or receiving comments, my followers list has disappeared too, though on my 'dashboard' it still lists 144 followers, even though on my page you can't see them. Thanks for the info on backing up a blog, I did it right away after reading your instructions! I do clear my cache and shut down the computer every night.
ReplyDeleteI have a question. I have 4 blogs on eblogger. Do I have to export each one individually? Seems like I would have to but not sure.
ReplyDeletetesting
ReplyDeleteHi, shelia! As you can see, I'm having problems, too! I signed in and unchecked the "keep signed in box" but I'm hoping I don't have to do that for every comment I make! ♥
ReplyDeleteGreat collection of pinks, Shelia, but the pink eyelashes are the best. ;-)
ReplyDeleteHappy belated Pink Saturday. ~ Sarah
