Hello, Dear Ones! It snowed at Note Songs cottage, did you know that? Well, it did in 2004. It was the first snow Galveston had had that covered the ground in almost 100 years! We had come from our Christmas Eve Service at church and the little snow flurries were coming down. By around 2am the ground was white! Mr. Precious and I hopped out of bed threw on our clothes and drove all over town taking pictures. We weren't the only ones doing that. It was wonderful. And we all woke up to snow on Christmas Day!

I've just about exhausted what I can show you this year for Christmas, so I had to dig deep! :) This is upstairs on the deck. The snow was so beautiful.

Here's my little darling play in the snow and trying to scare off the big dogs. Looks like she was doing a pretty good job! :) She has snow all in her little whiskers. I love that little fuzzy face! :)

I know, I know, you've seen these two pictures of my doors. But I wanted to go to Karen's party - Doors of Welcome.

This is my very favorite Nativity. It's olden to me around twenty years old. I just love this.

Here's another olden piece. This little needlework I made in 1978! I put it out each year.

Oh, Dear Ones, although we love to look at how each of us are decorating our homes at this time of the year, please don't forget the main reason we celebrate!
I'm joining Karen at
Some Days Are Diamonds for her Doors of Welcome party
and
Susan at
Thoughts From Over the Rainbow for Deck the Halls Tuesdays.
Be a bunch of sweeties,
Shelia ;)
I'll leave you with a little
Note Song~
Oh, Come, All Ye Faithful
Oh, Come, All Ye FaithfulOh, come, all ye faithful,
Joyful and triumphant!
Oh, come ye, oh, come ye to Bethlehem;
Come and behold him
Born the king of angels:
Oh, come, let us adore him,
Oh, come, let us adore him,
Oh, come, let us adore him,
Christ the Lord.
Highest, most holy,
Light of light eternal,
Born of a virgin,
A mortal he comes;
Son of the Father
Now in flesh appearing!
Oh, come, let us adore him,
Oh, come, let us adore him,
Oh, come, let us adore him,
Christ the Lord.
Sing, choirs of angels,
Sing in exultation,
Sing, all ye citizens of heaven above!
Glory to God
In the highest:
Oh, come, let us adore him,
Oh, come, let us adore him,
Oh, come, let us adore him,
Christ the Lord.
Yea, Lord, we greet thee,
Born this happy morning;
Jesus, to thee be glory given!
Word of the Father,
Now in flesh appearing!
Oh, come, let us adore him,
Oh, come, let us adore him,
Oh, come, let us adore him,
how fun! snow in 1994. wish i had snow like that now!
ReplyDeleteWe lived in Spring Texas way back in 1987-91 and when it snowed or got icy...so many of the drivers didn't know how to drive!!! I still always wanted it to be snowy at Christmas.

A white Christmas is always so magical.
ReplyDeleteJoyce
We all love the snow, don't we? Especially us Texas girls who don't get to see much of it! ;)
ReplyDeleteYour door is lovely! Thank you for sharing it with us!
Of course it snows all of the time in Colorado, but my favorite snow memory took place on Christmas eve. We came out of church at about 8:00 pm and it was just beginning to snow the biggest flakes I've ever seen. It was like angels flying all around us. Our kids were little (one still in arms), and it was such a sweet sight to see Bob with the two kids with such wonder in their eyes. So glad that you have experienced a Christmas snow, also. Take care, Sally
ReplyDeleteTo wake to snow on Christmas morning just had to be over the top special....your decorations are so nice, I too love your nativity!
ReplyDeleteWOW that was a LOT of snow and how fun to wake up to it on Christmas morning! Love your beautiful decorations. They are all gorgeous.♥
ReplyDeleteThe snow looks just gorgeous and your home is totally beautiful. Hugs, Marty
ReplyDeleteWe've got plenty of snow here in Minnesota. Visitations and shipping available! :)
ReplyDeleteAmy
Shelia, I always love everything you share. You are the best at sharing a smile with all of us.
ReplyDeleteHi Sheila, The door picture with Chloe Dawn peeking through is just precious! Snow in Texas, who would have thought? :)
ReplyDeleteBrowsed through your post below, and WOW, your home is stunning! The pictures of your big tree in the foyer and the piano room are magazine worthy! Everything is beautiful! ...and so cozy! ~hugs, Rhonda :)
It looks so pretty, I know you guys were so excited. Your christmas photos are great too. Thanks for sharing.
ReplyDeleteSheila-Thank you so much for "digging deep" for this one--I loved your snow pictures and could almost feel the excitement myself! I love your needlework and especially the plaque Thank you for coming to the "Deck the Halls" party :)
ReplyDeleteOh Sheila, I loved the snow photos. How fun and rare to have snow for Christmas. Even here in the mountains a white Christmas is a rare thing. Our snow comes in Jan and Feb.
ReplyDeleteHowever it just might snow this Christmas and we will be in Florida. LOL. We are still in the South.
I love your beautiful doors and the JOY needlework. So pretty. The nativity is beautiful and I agree...We must remember the true meaning of Christmas.
Christmas hugs to you, Jeanne
I am glad that you showed us your front doors again. I didn't see the beautiful window above it last time!
ReplyDeleteAnd, I too hope that we don't lose sight of the birth of our Lord during all of the glitz and glitter.
Rhonda
Just lovely. I haven't had a chance to put out my Nativiey, but will do it after the party. Thanks for joining and sharing your home.
ReplyDeleteMerry Christmas!
Hugz, Z
Your snow pictures are great! I can imagine how excited you would be to see snow if you rarely get any.I could send you some!
ReplyDeleteCarolyn
Sheila, it didn't snow here that Christmas but it did in south TX where my most of my family lives. They even published a book about it. I did a special scrapbook for my sister with the snow photos she sent to me. It was magical because it was Christmas Eve. Quite amazing! I only remember it snowing once or twice when I lived there as a child.
ReplyDeleteThanks for shaing these photos! ~ Sarah
snow and christmas decorations.. doesnt get better than this.
ReplyDeleteMerry Christmas
~ Sonny ~
Thanks for sharing all the great photos. I doubt that we'll have a white Christmas here in Georgia, but I've enjoyed many growing up in the Great White North.
ReplyDeleteThat is one of my favorite carols. I just love singing them at Church during the Christmas season.
Hi Sheila!
ReplyDeleteMy gosh, your little darling is precious, waiting in the glass of your front doors. Wondering "Mommy, what are you doing out there????"
too cute!
I love your home as I love your last post too...totally fabulous decorating!!!!
everything vintage
Look at that snow! I remember the first time I ever saw a snowflake--back in the 50s in New Orleans. My mother made a snow man on the picnic table. Chloe Dawn is too cute for words.
ReplyDeleteHi Shelia, that snow is so pretty. I am glad you were able to capture it. I was told it snowed here the night after we left for Fl.and it does not usually snow here either. Too bad I missed it. Your home is so welcoming and so lovely....Christine
ReplyDeleteOh Sheila, love the "kids" playing in the snow. Just too cute for words. Have you had snow since? We've had frigid temps here and they say we may have snow this w/k. Yikes.. maybe just in time for a White Christmas? Your hand work and your nativity is beautiful girl. Always a treat to stop by..hugs ~lynne~
ReplyDeleteGreat that you took pictures or no one would believe you! :) Hope you are enjoying the holiday season. Are you all done shopping and wrapping and baking.......
ReplyDeleteI'm from Louisiana and I've never had a white Christmas. Even the few years we live where there was snow, we always came home for the holidays and were never in the snow for Christmas!
ReplyDeleteLove your beautiful doors, and all of your lovely decorations on your other Christmas post!
Loved your snow photos, Sheila...we just had a little snowfall here...first time in over 10 yrs., and we were also out taking pictures...it was great to see it on the mountains and even on some lawns and rooftops.
ReplyDeleteI agree...I love to see all the decorations, but Jesus is always the reason we celebrate...He is THE Gift that gives eternal life!
Merry Christmas!
Mary
Hi Sheila, first of all thank you so much for the nice compliment on my Christmas decor!! I really appreciate it...I looked through your last three posts and you have done an outstanding job decorating your house! Your tree is gorgeous!! I love the outside of your house too...especially in 1994 with all the snow! It could happen again...I've always dreamed of a white Christmas, the closest we got was about 8 years ago...an ice storm! That wasn't fun. I hope you have a Merry Christmas! Kristen
ReplyDeleteShelia, Your entry doors are magnificent, with their lead glass caming. What a presentation they make! And I did see a little shadow of your doggie there, too...
ReplyDeleteYour nativity set is to be treasured. I recently bought some ceramic pieces, but I need a stable. Maybe after Christmas sales will net me one.
Hope you are having a joyous holiday season. Love that Christmas carol, BTW.
lotsa hugs, Sue
Your home is beautiful. I've scrolled down through some of your past posts and you really know how to "deck the halls" for the season! I wanted to stop by to thank you for visiting my place during the home tours. Have a very Merry Christmas.
ReplyDeleteHi Sheila
ReplyDeleteI am amazed to hear that you have snow there sometimes. Your house looks so pretty dusted in snow. I expect Chloe dawn was shocked at first to see and feel the snow! Thanks for sharing your beatiful needlepoint and your lovely nativity scene.

Your pictures are gorgeous. I can imagine your excitement its so very pretty...your doors are lovely.
I hope you are doing so very well..and that you have a lovely day. I have missed you...but I'll be back soon...*hugs*
Judi
Oh Sheila! Snow in Texas?? I can hardly believe it! It looks so pretty and I think that is just the cutest thing in the world...you and Mr. Precious getting up and dressed and heading out to take pictures of it all! He sounds like a very, very, special man...who married an amazing, loving woman. What a marriage made in heaven. Speaking of heaven...I am glad you remind people about the real reason for the xmas celebration. We all need to find humility at this time of year and remember who to thank for our wonderful gift of life.
ReplyDeleteHi Sheila, your "doors" are gorgeous, love that leaded glass and the wreaths. Wow, that snow is amazing down there. Your nativities and figurines are just so beautiful. I could look at them all day! Hope you are having a wonderful Christmas Season,
ReplyDeleteBlessings,
Debra
Your home is lovely!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful doors!
Beautiful Nativity!
Enjoy!
All the best,
Eileen
You have a beautiful blog and I loved reading your Christmas posts...thanks for stopping by and leaving a sweet note. Happy Christmas!
ReplyDeleteShelia,
ReplyDeleteAmen to remembering the reason! I adore your nativity. It is so delicate.
I have been an avid follower of your blog for quite some time and I really appreciate your visit to For the Sake of Time. Thank you for your sweet comment.
Have a Blessed Christmas.
Charla
the snow is WONDERFUL!!! your wreaths are too beautiful.
ReplyDeleteWe get snow here usually by Thanksgiving and after awhile it feels like all it does is snow!! Your front doors would be beautiful in any season.Don't you just love the old Christmas Carols when we sing all the verses. Most of them tell the Whole Gospel if you listen to the words. Blessing of Peace and Joy throughout this most Holy of Seasons. Meg
ReplyDeleteSnow is a regular thing for us here in Pa. I can only imagine if it never happened, how wonderful it would be. Even though it snows here often, it's still a magical feeling to watch it come down. We always make chocolate chip cookies for the first snow. We made them a couple weeks ago here. :) Your doors look beautiful!
ReplyDelete~Michelle
I had to come back and see Chloe Dawn chase off that Big Dog. She's too cute.
ReplyDeleteXX00
The wonderful thing about snow photos are they never look dated (as long as we aren't standing in them in our clothes and hairstyles of the time). These are wonderful. I love your front door and your nativity too. You are so right, He is the reason we celebrate!
ReplyDeleteBlessings,
Marcia
Sheila, that must have been quite exciting to have a white Christmas in your neck of the woods. I have been gone so much I missed your beautiful doors! Wow, so pretty for your guests to enter through. I also love your favorite nativity. It just has such a beatiful look about it, and of course the meaning behind it.
ReplyDeleteWonderful post you sweetie you!
Donna
My dear Sheila, I had to go back & catch up on all of your Christmas decor. I'm so behind, tried to visit everyone from my party & I just can't do it! I'm overwhelmed!
ReplyDeleteBut, I had to tell you that ALL of your Christmas decor is just delightful, from that fabulous mantel to that gorgeously tall lit tree, it is ALL just beautiful. You have a fun way of putting your decor together & it's so warm & inviting, just like YOU! I know you are a joy to know & I'm glad we are friends. Thank you for coming by to see me & leaving me comments, even when I don't return them often. I need another ME!
Merry Christmas!!!
How gorgeous is that snow Shelia!!!
ReplyDeleteIsn't it wonderful when it's so rare like that? LOVE your pretty doors too!
Enjoy the season! ~Melissa :)
Hi Shelia,
ReplyDeleteYour home looks so lovely in the snow! I'm always dreaming of a white Christmas ... (just dreaming ... had a few flurries once or twice). Your doors are gorgeous and look VERY welcoming.
The song you selected for today's post is one of my favorites; always beautiful and moving in every version I've ever heard.
I hope you and yours have a wonderful Christmas!
Bill
Hello Shelia; Wow! love the photos,,,so beautiful.. here we are just getting rain,, and more rain... lol such a long time between snow falls too.... little Chloe Dawn is sure having fun.... have a great week.
ReplyDeleteHugs;
Alaura
I hadn't seen your doors yet and so enjoyed them immensely! Any time you'd like some snow, we'll send some down. (Except this year, we really haven't had any yet!)
ReplyDeleteShelia thanks for sharing your snowy Christmas with us. I've lived in North Carolina for twenty years and though we get snow sometimes, we've never had any on Christmas. I would've been up all night too.
ReplyDeleteI think it is funny how you guys think snow is so great! lol
ReplyDeleteI have only had one year at Christmas with no snow...I was in Florida on vacation...and I must say...the snow just adds a little something to the holidays...
I am glad you got to see snow in your yard....it seems that it is not as common for you as it is for me...who at this moment...has two feet of the horrible cold wet stuff in the yard!
Merry Christmas sweet girl!
Hi Sheila, just a note to say hello. We will have snow this weekend when we are visiting our son in Tenn. I will take photos of his pretty brick home with snow if I can.
ReplyDeleteHave a wonderful weekend.
Love, Jeanne
WOW - Texas snow!! What a fun memory:) And your little pup looks too cute with all that snow in his whiskers:) My own pup might be playing in the snow here tomorrow...they are forecasting quite a bit!! FUN:)
ReplyDeleteIt sounds like you enjoyed the snow!
ReplyDeleteI am the opposite..I am always thankful when it passes us by..looks pretty, but so hard for disabled people to get around..I had a sister who was in a wheelchair her whole life. It was so hard pushing it through the snow and slush!
But a little dusting is fine..just not the 16 in. they are predicting for the weekend..
Your doors are very welcoming..
Have yourself a Merry Little Christmas! (hmmm..I feel a song coming on!)
