Did you notice I made a new Note Songs header? Yep, I did! :) I'm so wonderful, you know! :)
I am kidding!
Here we are in all of our tiny Christmasness. Mother looking good and feeling pretty good from her broken arm she busted up last year, Mr. Precious looking like a little stinker who needs an adjustment, you can't see her - but Chloe Dawn is under the table begging for turkey and me in all of my peakedness!I'm joining our Dear Susan at Between Naps on the Porch for Tablescape Thursday

our Dear Michael at Designs by Gollum for Foodie Friday.
Please pop on over to visit these gals and get your tiny eyes filled with inspiration!Be a bunch of sweeties,
Shelia ;)
I'll leave you with a little Note Song~
The Twelve Days After Christmas
The first day after Christmas my true love and I had a fight,
And so I chopped the pear tree down and burned it just for spite.
Then with a single cartridge, I shot that blasted partridge,
My true love, my true love, my true love gave to me.
The second day after Christmas, I pulled on the old rubber gloves,
And very gently wrung the necks of both the turtle doves.
My true love, my true love, my true love gave to me.
The third day after Christmas, my mother caught the croup;
I had to use the three Frech hens to make some chicken soup.
The four calling birds were a big mistake,
for their language was obscene.
The five gold rings were completely fake and they turned my fingers green .
The sixth day after Christmas, the six laying geese wouldn't lay,
I gave the whole darn gaggle to the A.S.P.C.A.
On the seventh day what a mess I found,
All seven of the swimming swans had drowned.
My true love, my true love, my true love gave to me.
The eighth day after Christmas, before they could suspect,
I bundled up the eight maids a milking, nine pipers piping, Ten ladies dancing, 'leven lords a leaping, Twelve drummers drumming and sent them back collect.
I wrote my true love, "We are through, love",
and I said in so many words,
"Furthermore your Christmas gifts were for the birds!"
~sung by a silly!

Sheila--I think your meal looks wonderful and no excuses are necessary! I have to hide the food to keep my family from eating it before I get it to the table. Your mom looks so pretty and really great--tell her I said so. Hope you are having fun--hasn't your new computer come in handy!! :) Happy 2010!
ReplyDeleteYour header is very pretty as is the table! We are dinner at my daughters and had Italian food! They wanted something different too. Have a wonderful new year my friend..just love you! Come say hi :D
ReplyDeleteI certainly hope you are feeling o.k. by now. You don't look too peaked! I sure would like to simplify Christmas dinner; but, alas, the 41 and 37-year-olds won't hear of it. I'm thinking it is time they grew up (and I passed the torch) - don't you think? Hope 2010 is wonderful for you. I know from experience that the first year of retirement can be an adjustment. I was so used to being home alone for several years, but we have gotten used to it. Take care, Sally
ReplyDeleteYou are just so cute and funny. Love your blog!
ReplyDeleteG'eve Shelia ~ You are such a bright spot ... your header is gorgeous!, your table is awesome (I do the end of the table (center) piece, also), the food is delicious. Your ham looks like what ours ends up coming to the table like.
ReplyDeleteHave a beautiful & blessed NEW YEAR ... I will be in & out of communication for a couple weeks.
TTFN ~ Marydon
Beautiful table setting and arrangements. We are a small family too.
ReplyDeletecindy
I hope you are feeling better by now. I think your Christmas table and dinner looks wonderful. Beautiful new plates!! Hope you and your hubby have a wonderful New Year!!!♥
ReplyDeleteYou ARE wonderful Shelia! And don't you forget it! Happy New Year my friend.
ReplyDeleteKim
We barbequed T-Bones and smoked pork chops for Christmas dinner. Not having that huge roasting pan to wash just makes the whole meal seem tastier!
ReplyDeleteI love your new header! And your table and dinner look wonderful. I could almost taste the ham that your hubby taste-tested. We had a wonderful Christmas. Actually two of them - on the 19th with our kids and grandkids and everybody and then on Christmas Day with just my dear mother, my cousin, her hubby, my sweetheart and I. I served crab-stuffed chicken breasts this year! We went crabbing at the Oregon Coast on Labor Day weekend so I just had to use the last of the crab from the freezer for something special! Thanks for sharing your pretty Christmas table with us. ~Adrienne~
ReplyDeleteHello Shelia; I love your very sweet and pretty table setting.. Your Christmas dinner sounded so special.. such beautiful photos.... hope you are having a great time in Fl. and getting some rest and lots of sun...

A pretty table! Love your dishes! And the centerpiece is very pretty! It looks like a good dinner to me!
ReplyDeleteLooks like a wonderful dinner to me!! And a beautiful table too!
ReplyDeleteYou are so funny in all your "Christmas-ness" and "ham-ness", etc! I will forgive you for "lying" to us about your buying two sets of plates since they are both so wonderful! (Santa ones are adorable!) I really like the idea of a centerpiece (side-piece) at one end of the table like you did - more room for the food!
ReplyDeleteHappy 2010!
DD
Always enjoy your sense of humor! Beautiful table for your Christmas. That ham looks yummy! ~ Sarah
ReplyDeleteNo way will you be forgotten. I'm glad you are off on a holiday with Mr. Precious. Your holiday table is beautiful (love the dishes), and I love your idea of an end piece, rather than a centerpiece. That is thinking outside of the box and creating something spectacular!
ReplyDeleteLovely table; delicious feast!~
ReplyDeleteYou have a great sense of humor as well my dear!~All is festive, delectable and oh so yummy looking!
Do feel most welcome to pop by for a cup of "Rosey Lee" sometime when you feel the need for a quick "pick me up"!..,

ReplyDeleteWell, that spiral ham looked scrumptious. I am sitting here eating leftovers with my mouth watering. I love the idea of putting your grouping at the end of the table. How come I'm not so clever. Looking forward to catching up on your archives.
ReplyDeleteI did not know Jim Shore had dishes. Your table is festive and everything looks yummy. Happy New Year.
ReplyDeleteSheila, wow, your table is beautiful. Love those holly/berry dishes...so Christmasy. Your centerpiece is gorgeous. I have one that is always ready to sample to make sure it is fit to serve, too!

Jan
Beautiful header!! Your tablescape is very pretty, those plates are wonderful! I didn't know Jim Shore had china!
ReplyDeleteYour dinner sounds a little like ours (we were alone this year.) We also had leftover ham and scalloped potatoes!! LOL! We also had iced tea in those same glasses!
I hope you are feeling much better by now!
I've enjoyed getting to know you this past year, I always enjoy your posts and look forward to more this coming year!
Happy New Year!
Katherine
Hi Shelia...you always make me smile...love Mr. Precious's sampling of the ham...toooo funny! I was getting tired of having turkey and ham at both Thanksgiving and Christmas so I started having a Rib Roast instead for Christmas. I even made a few different dishes this year to shake things up. :-) So I say go for it!
ReplyDeleteYour Christmas table is wonderful...love those "olden" Tarjay plates.
Happy New Year to you! Fireworks are going off like crazy outside as I write this.
Susan
Hi Sheila!
ReplyDeleteyour dinner looked wonderful! Love your Christmas plates!
happy 2010!!
Christmas does not have to be all about fancy food and lots of stress for preparing it. You just got the balance right between the right amount of stress and the right amount of good food.Your table looks gorgous. I have notthing red to put on my table. My tables are mostly quit white and blue or something icy like that. I even envy you a bit since your table scape does look so inviting and jolly and warm. Have a very good New Year.
ReplyDeleteWell, you're right — you are wonderful and your posts are so delightful. Love you new Christmas plates and The 12 Days After had me laughing out loud.
ReplyDeleteHope you are enjoying your trip.
Happy New Yearness!
What a cute and funny post! Loved the 12 Days - LOL.
ReplyDeleteHappy New Year!
Oh Shelia, you always crack me up! LOVE the song -- and the meal looks scrumptious. I don't blame Mr P for jumping the gun and getting a pre-taste of deliciousness.
ReplyDeleteAt least Chloe Dawn didn't get there first!
Happy New Year -- hope the travels are going well.
Cass
Your plates are so cute... but I would have been in trouble for sampling that lovely looking ham too! Oh my it looks so good! I live those bread plates too... Great table! Its been great getting to know you this past year and I look forward to the coming year of inspiration and fun!
ReplyDeleteI'm having a little New Years giveaway too... stop by and enter when you have a minute...

ReplyDeleteMerry Christmas! Your dinner table looks overflowing with goodness! Don't beat yourself up...I ended up cooking our dinner from crockpots, a stove top and the micro! It still turned out!
