Hello, Dear Ones and welcome to Foodie Friday which is hosted by our wonderful Dear Gollum at Designs by Gollum.I know Easter is long past, but I didn't get to share my little food with you. Hope you don't mind.
Then English peas! Why are these little pops of green called English? Does anyone know?
And bread! We love our bread and we had Sister Shurbert's frozen rolls. Have you had them? They're really delicious and I always melt a little butter with some parsley flakes and spread on them before they bake.
Be a bunch of sweeties,
Shelia ;)
I'll leave you with a little Note Song~
Roly Poly
Eatin' corn and taters
Hungry every minute of the day
Roly Poly
Gnawin' on a biscuit
As long as he can chew it it's okay
He can eat an apple pie
And never even bat an eye
He likes anything from soup to hay
Roly Poly
Daddy's little fatty
I bet he's gonna be a man someday
Roly Poly
Scrambled eggs for breakfast
Bread and jelly twenty times a day
Roly Poly
He eats a hearty dinner
He needs lots of strength to sing and play
He's up at dawn to do the chores
And he runs both ways through all the stores
He works up an appetite that way
Roly Poly
Daddy's little fatty
Fatty's gonna be a man someday

ReplyDeleteYou may call it simple but it looks like a divine southern feast to me.
ReplyDeleteI'm going to borrow you idea to put strawberries on the egg plate! I never need that many deviled eggs so I hate to use those plates. Now I know how to fill in the holes!!!

Sheila... who hopes Mother Precious is adjusting well in her new home and that you are getting some much deserved rest! :-)
Hi Sweet Shelia, I have enjoyed looking at your Easter Meal and I am starving!!! Everything looks soooo delish and gorgeous too! Nancy
ReplyDeleteOh Sheila your Easter "spread" makes my mouth water and my eyes widen! You have touched all the senses in this gorgeous display for your loving family. I just wish we had smellablogs so I could get a little scent of it all! Fabulous!! I love the colors and docorations in your new blog background too. The pink bows are so darned cute! I wish you were my sister because I would take you shopping with me and then let you decorate my house!! Ha ha...Love it!
ReplyDeleteShelia everything looks so delicious! You have given me a great idea. I never got one of those egg trays because I didn't want to make that many eggs. I love your idea of filling the extra spaces with fruit. Thank you. Now all I have to do is find a pretty egg tray like yours ♥
ReplyDeleteSheila ~ I want to cry!!! That's not a bad thing, it's just your Easter dinner was like eating at my mom's house. I haven't had an Easter dinner like you had since she passed away. I can taste it just looking at the pictures!
ReplyDeleteI did chuckle when I saw the deviled egg plate - my Mom always said, every southern lady needs a deviled egg plate! Yes, I have one even though I don't live in the south anymore!
Thanks for bringing back such wonderful memories!
Caren
GM Sweetness, now ya got me thinking, with your talent, dishes and big beautiful home, you could have a wonderful Bed and Breakfast and be the hostest with the mostest. Then we could come and stay a spell. LOL
ReplyDeleteI miss ya sweetie, more than you know.
Love Ya,
Chris
It's never too late to share such a wonderful meal! I love all of your serving pieces and decorations!
ReplyDeleteSusan
Dear Shelia! I always thought Southern Cooking was similar to Caribbean Cooking, we make sweet potato pie too! Now you know I'm going to add marshmallows to the top just like you, it sounds delish!
ReplyDeleteEverything looks great, you sure can make a table setting shine!
Oh my gosh I am so hungry. That all looked so good. Your buffet is beautiful. The fruit looks so yummy. Bet you didn't have many left overs..
ReplyDeleteThat looks amazing and is my kind of food. I so have to try those potatoes but first I better start running like Mr Precious. Love the plates and that pink cake stand is gorgeous.
ReplyDeleteI hope your Mother is going well and things have settled for you.
Shelia, thanks so much for stopping by my kitchen redo. You asked about the dark paste wax. No I do not have to keep putting it on. My cabinets are maple and just had the natural finish on them and I bought the darkest wax I could find. It was like a deep walnut color. Really dark in the can and without any red in it. You really do have to apply it with the grain and then don't let it dry too long before you buff it off. Just like waxing a car. I put two coats on and that was a year ago and you could see from the current pic they still look the same and I have wiped them off a hundred times. Google dark paste wax and dozens of brands will come up. You can choose colors from there. I bought mine at Razmataz. If you have one of those stores they carry it. Good luck, I'd love to hear how it turns out. Hugs, Marty
ReplyDeleteDelicious food, beautiful dishes and a lovely tablescape. What a perfect combination!...Christine
ReplyDeleteShelia

Well, everything just looked beautiful! I have always wanted a deviled egg tray, however all of them only hold one dozen...and that won't do..so..I must always use a large tray! Your BUNNIES are just the most precious ever!
ReplyDeleteNow..the song. :) Do you know that all my life I have heard that song on the radio...and all my life I thought the words to the last verse were "Bet he's gonna be a man some day..." HOW funny! That's how I used to sing it too!
Yep, I sure did! I am SO embarrassed!! :)
Ok..now I am off the the top post.
Hugs..
Loved those ducky plates and that food....I would like a deviled egg, please:)
